Swissing is the best language school in Switzerland!  The instructors truly care and always make sure your goals are met. I have been two times. Once for Swiss German and the next for high German for my Swiss Citizenship test. I got 100% on my 2 hour oral test in German. They had me completely prepared and able to understand everything in German. I did the 5 day immersion program both times. I highly recommend Swissing to everyone!!!

I am really enjoying the German lessons with Désirée, as well as her teaching methods and the teaching materials. I feel like the pace is very good and I am able to understand much more in my day to day life in Switzerland. Unfortunately I can’t think of any suggestions to improve the course, as everything seems very good to me!

Ich habe mein deutschsprachiges Ziel erreicht: C1-Niveau abgeschlossen.

Deshalb habe ich diese Woche schweren Herzens meinen Abschlusskurs bei Kristina absolviert.
Ich kann sie nur wärmstens empfehlen, jeder Unterricht war perfekt vorbereitet, führte zu starken Fortschritten und Kristina hat immer mit außergewöhnlicher Kreativität und Tiefe auf alle meine Fragen geantwortet.
Kristina war bei der Terminvereinbarung sehr zuverlässig und flexibel.

I’ve learned german with Swissing and I can only recommend them! They are not your typical language school: flexibility is really their thing. They are also very good at adapting to your learning needs: from theoretical lessons to extremely practical lessons, each person learns just differently! There’s also a lot of teachers, one for every taste, and their staff is quite good at matching teachers to pupils.
Their teaching method is great, they focus on getting you to use the language since day 1, which really makes a difference and works in the long term.
I’ve been in big and small groups, learning both german and swiss german, online and in-person and I really learned both languages and use them every day in every situation.

I have been taking small-group German language classes with Swissing all the way from A1 until C1. I can honestly say I enjoyed every minute of it. Classes with Dominique are always fun, but they are also very well prepared and appropriately paced. I feel that I have learned a lot, even though I had to balance learning with extremely busy professional and personal life.

I already had some basics in German but I wanted to level-up my skills. I joined Swissing and set the personal goal of passing the Goethe B2 Exam within one year. I took small group classes with Dominique and other Googlers, complementing them with some individual lessons focused on the exam. The group classes were very informative yet easy-going and I always had the impression to be followed on a personal level. The individual lessons were the icing on the cake that made me familiarize with the exam’s structure and score higher. I ended up passing with around ~85% and have to thank Dominique and her staff for the heavy lifting! Definitely recommended.!

As I’m currently abroad, and don’t expect to return for a while, it’s the only mode of learning that I can continue, and it’s working very well for me. Luana from Swissing is one of the greatest language teacher I ever had. She is very passionate, friendly and she has great teaching skills. When I subscribed for the classes I was afraid I will lose interest very fast (as I usually do), but with Luana I really enjoy my time and the classes are going at our pace. The teaching material is good and suitable for private lessons, but I think it wouldn’t be so efficient without Luana’s teaching methods (e.g. pointing at real objects when learning new words for our visual memory). I think that we are learning a lot (more than expected) even if we are not putting a lot of effort into this outside the classes. I would recommend Swissing with Luana as a teacher to anyone who wants to learn German.

Swissing has accommodated all my needs and responded to all my requests with an appropriate solution. The staff are customer focused, attentive, always friendly, energetic and collaborative, pragmatic and very professional. Groups are small and focused therefore good progress can be gained. Groups are run at an appropriate time slot and frequency that a busy professional can attend. I am thrilled to have started with Swissing, have made great progress and I am very happy to continue with Swissing who will undoubtedly help me reach my goal of B1 German proficiency

I think you already know, but still want to say that we were very happy with our new teacher, Aisha. She is very knowledgeable, also on expanded topics related to Swiss integration – which was, in addition to the language, very important for us. She is very accurate and extremely well organized: anything we asked her about, if she wasn’t able to reply immediately, she always took notes and told us on the next lesson. The course books and other material was indeed good for us. We were especially happy to get new, updated books with some fixes. We are *very* happy with Swissing and I keep recommending it as a language school for Swiss and High German to my friends and colleagues (some of them are now already studying Swiss German with Swissing).Thank you, Artem.

I had a great time in this course and learned a lot: Luana is really an amazing teacher (and to be honest, I took already a lot of courses since I am in Zurich and this is by far my best experience). Not only is she very competent, but as well an extremely nice and interesting person. So the experience was positive on every aspect. Thank you very much for providing such a high quality service. Be shur that if I find again the time to take such a class, that will be with Swissing 🙂

I joined the Swiss German course for German speakers despite not being a German speaker myself, and I found they normally have as many problems as we do. Dominique (our teacher) guided us through a learning process that ensured first that we would survive each day to day need (like saying hello or buying the newspaper) and with that ensure that we would start conversations in Swiss German and improve on our own in the real world. My Swiss friends got super excited with my couple of sentences here and there, and the course provided me with the basis to continue learning on my own. I loved it!!!

I(native German) have been taken Swiss German classes on site at Google with Dominique since January 2014. Love her hands-on pragmatic approach with lots of opportunity to practice and focus on every day life situations. 9 month in I’m a confident, fluent speaker of Swiss German which is crucial not only for liaising with Swiss co-workers and vendors but also helps to build better connections at my weekly sports class. As I’m very happy with the quality of Swissing and would like my co-workers to benefit from these excellent classes, I have volunteered to be the on-site contact for Swissing at Google for logistics such as room bookings.

I originally sought out Swissing because I was looking for a German school that was willing to adapt to my needs and unconventional style of learning.  I was less interested in a structured introduction to German, where one reads from a textbook and performs canned exercises, and instead needed a more open-ended approach based on interest, everyday topics and conversation.  Having a strongly visual memory, I was also seeking a teaching style that would build up my ability to speak German on a foundation of being able to write competently.  Under two different teachers at Swissing, I am happy to say that these needs were resoundingly met. In under two years, with this unconventional approach, supplemented by reading the newspapers and listening to Swiss radio daily, I was able to attain a level of German competence just under B2.  (In fact, I took a test recently and scored towards the high end of level B1.)  The teachers and staff are always friendly, approachable and willing to help.  Another strength of Swissing is that, if one takes the private (one-on-one) lessons, they will adapt to one’s schedule. For someone like myself, who has a hectic professional schedule, this was not just a bonus but a necessity!

I am writing to express our gratitude for all of the instruction that we received from Swissing.  My wife and I attended  German classes at Swissing when we were living in Switzerland: a beginners course as well as several advanced courses.  We moved to Switzerland at the end of 2001 and did not have any German language skills.  At the end of our stay in Switzerland several years later, we had found that our level of comprehension was at a high level.  One way we judged our abilities was to travel into the Swiss countryside and visit small villages where no English was spoken.  We determined that if we could shop and dine in these small villages speaking only German, then we knew that our skill and comprehension was at a good level.

Swissing was a valuable training experience for us.  Not only did it teach us German reading, writing and speaking skills, but it also taught us extremely useful information about everyday living in Switzerland that helped us assimilate into the community more readily. This ultimately helped us to make the most of our experience in Switzerland and gave us more confidence to explore and experience many of the Swiss traditions that we might otherwise have missed.  We also learned customs and etiquette for social situations. These not only helped us to adjust to living in a new culture that was quite different from ours in the US, but it also helped me in business situations when I was dealing with contractors, consultants and my colleagues.  For example, knowing how and when to address someone formally versus informally not only helped me but generally put the other party at ease as well and lead to a much smoother encounter.

The classes at Swissing are small which leads to more individual training. This, for us, was one of the greatest benefits. We were not just students in the assembly line production of learning a new language. The instructor that we had was dedicated, professional and very caring.  She took the time to make sure that we truly understood the concepts of the grammar as well as the vocabulary and made us practice  all our skills until we had sufficiently mastered a given topic before moving on.

I think the final proof of how well we learned our German at Swissing was exhibited by our recent trip to Switzerland.  We had not used any of our German language skills for 5 years when we traveled back to the country in the summer of 2012.  We traveled across the country and spent time living with friends who do not speak any English. We had no problems communicating with them or in any shop, restaurant or store that we visited.

I would highly recommend Swissing for all levels of students, but especially for beginners and newcomers looking to assimilate into the Swiss community.

I really love Ysabel.  She has a marvelous teaching style. She is very flexible to adapt the teachings as we go, she has a wonderful personality, always happy and pleasant and yet challenges me when I need it.  I connect very well with her and am learning alot.  I am sorry I have no suggestions for improvement to offer.  I really think she is perfect!!!!  And the course is going very well.

I have been a student at Swissing for almost a year now, having one-to-one lessons with Denise. What makes Swissing different from other language schools above and beyond the fundamentals? For me, it is attitude, relevance and flexibility. The attitude of the staff is can-do. They are supportive, treat you as an individual and get to know you personally. Denise knows what’s happening in my life, she chats to me about my own family, friends and job – even if I don’t see her for a few weeks she will remember our discussions and talk to me about ME – its a lot easier to talk another language when what you’re discussing is real life..

By relevance I mean that I learn what is relevant to me – yes I learn the rules of the verbs, the fundamentals of the language and the theory behind it. But Swissing makes it relevant to someone living in Switzerland, learning High German, hearing Swiss German and getting by as a Swiss resident. It goes beyond just the language – I have learned how to make bank payments in Switzerland, how the local customs work and even how to do my online grocery shopping without buying the wrong items!

And finally flexibility – I am not the world’s most organised person, but with Denise if I need to change a day, be late at the last minute, change the focus of my lesson away from the planned path for a specific reason, then it is not only accepted, but done with a smile!

So, all in all, Swissing for me is the ideal place to learn German as a person living in Switzerland! And Denise has all of the qualities and skills that I would want to find in a language teacher. Thanks.

Private lessons with Swissing is my third attempt at a German course in three years – having tried group lessons with different organisations before. I must say, having private lessons with Anja has been really fun and I am finally ‚getting it‘. Anja is infinitely patient and brilliant at allowing me to develop at my own pace, and the flexibility of classes enables me to work around the business demands.

So far the Swiss-German classes with Denise are excellent.  Her teaching method works very well with how I learn and I really enjoy that everyone in class is encouraged to speak. Denise has a great approach to in which we can practise a variety of situations we might encounter outside of class.  The teaching materials are also good – little time is spent in class focussing solely on grammar and writing exercises.  I would highly recommend this class.

I heard about Swissing through a friend who had visited the school in the past and was happy. The need to improve my German to a professional level when I got my new job within BDO, a Swiss company and environment made me reflect upon his recommendation and get in touch with Swissing.

The small classes, the friendly administration staff and the experienced teachers helped me progress fast. I managed to improve my conversation skills and get alerted on my mistakes with the techniques that we followed, while the topics were always good fun. We could actually choose ourselves articles to read and discuss, make presentations on topics that interest us or even get into passionate arguments in the context of a role play (angry customers, political negotiations etc).

The main difference of Swissing to other schools that I tried in the past is the attention to the individuals, the customised classes to the student needs and the flexibility of the teachers. The group was at the same level of knowledge of the German language and we helped each other, instead of delaying the class trying to catch up to the level of the rest.

I feel now comfortable and confident when I initiate a conversation or send emails to clients and I would recommend Swissing to everyone who wants top quality of learning. A bonus to my Swissing classes is that I made a lot of new friends and we keep meeting for after work drinks, while we exercise our German.

I keep the best memory of Yvonne’s patience, quality teaching and the will to push me to learn better! She is a high quality teacher and in particular because she has a genuine intellectual interest for almost any topics and thus can keep the conversations going in every direction to keep the interest up.
